About learning languages

Can you learn a language on your own from the internet?
I honestly do not know. Some say they can, some say they can't. At least it asks for good planning and determination. I've studied all languages I'm working on more or less in classrooms before continuing on my own or returning back to classes later on. I think having a teacher and having the textbooks and having the personalized support is a huge plus factor on learning. On the other hand I do believe you simply can not actually learn a language on class alone. You have to use the language independently, bump into problems, make mistakes and expand your horizons and then return to the class with new questions and new views on the language.

Can you learn multiple languages at the same time?
Yes you can but here comes the real question: why would you if you have a choice not to do so? Language learning is an endurance sport so to speak. It takes years to become more or less fluent if you practice regularly and goal oriented. Instead of dabbling with this and that for 3 years and not really speaking any new languages why not using three years on one and speaking it at least good if not great? "But you are learning multiple!" you may now exclaim. Yes and no. I'm really putting effort in basics of Japanese but I am not really learning anything new in the other languages. I'm keeping them merely from falling dormant or reviving them from that state by reading and listening to stuff in the target language. I'm not really making actual progress with English, German or Swedish. I'm just taking care of them until I can pay attention to them again.
I am aware that in many countries learning multiple languages at the same at school is usual and works out fine so don't worry if that is your situation. You have teachers, a regular schedule and good study plans that multiple different professionals have planned together. Just do your work and find ways to enjoy the languages outside the class too and it'll be great.

I know only one language well. Is it worth it to learn more?
Yes. All languages are good for expanding your views on life and the world. They also might become useful in the most suprising places.

Can you learn a new language at any age?
Yes. It's just different when your a child compared to when you are an adult.
